Things I Wish I Had When My Luggage Was Missing
I recently had a trip to Chicago cancelled due to the weather. The weirdest thing is somehow my luggage made it there, even though I didn’t. I was pretty easy going about the whole situation. However, when it came to my skincare… girl, I was stressed!!
Anyone who knows me knows I take my skincare very seriously. So, imagine going 3, yes 3 days, without the items that you feel makes you your best self. I probably could live without some of the items in my luggage. But the following items are ones I needed and missed the most.
The first thing I missed in my skincare routine were my Olay Daily Facial Wipes. If you want to know how I really feel about these wipes, check out one of my previous blog here. One of the main reasons why I missed these wipes is because the other cleanser I have at home, Purity, is not my favorite. That cleanser strips my skin and dries it out. My Olay Daily Facial Wipes cleans without taking all out all the essence of my skin.
Another item I hated being separated from is Sunday Riley Good Genes. Although this stuff is a little pricey, it is worth every single coin in my pocketbook! Good Genes is a lactic acid that clarifies and smooths skin like no other. According to Sephora’s website, Good Genes “exfoliates dull, pore-clogging dead skin cells, revealing smoother, fresher, younger-looking skin. Fine lines appear visually plumped while he skin looks more radiant.” I can honestly say that this product does everything it states it does. I feel that my skin looks the healthiest with this product. I can go out confidently without makeup while using this product.
So, from the most expensive item in my skincare routine to the most cost efficient. The product I missed is my E.L.F. Hydrating Serum. This product only cost $12. One of the reasons I can’t live without this is because it gives moisture and hydration to the skin. When using this product, I get less oily during the day. Some ask, “How can something that states hydration in the name make your skin less oily?” The reason why products like this and other moisturizers can stop your skin from producing more oil throughout the day is because the reason why the skin is producing so much oil, at times, is because it is actually thirsty. It is over-compensating. If you give your skin what it needs, it won’t need to work as hard, i.e. you won’t be as oily. I know that sounds weird. But believe me, it works!
The last thing I missed was my Neutrogena Hydro-Boost Gel Moisturizer with SPF 15. I’ve been using this product for years. It’s a staple in my bathroom. It’s a lightweight gel moisturizer with hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is not harsh, as the name suggests. But according to Dr. Oz, hyaluronic acid is good at plumping the skin. It’s also good at keeping the moisture in the skin.
So, now that we’ve hit the end of my go-to skincare products, it's now your turn. What are you must haves? I would love to hear your thoughts.
As always, thanks for spending a few moments with me. Feel free to share.
Until next time,
J. Michelle
